Sord VPN Privacy Policy
Zareef Studio · Effective date: October 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Sord VPN Android app ("Sord VPN", "the app", "we", "us") handles information. Sord VPN is developed and published by Zareef Studio. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.
1. What the app does
Sord VPN uses Android's VpnService to create an encrypted OpenVPN tunnel between your device and a VPN server. While you are connected, your device's internet traffic is routed through that server, and websites see the server's IP address instead of yours. VpnService is used only for this purpose, which is the core function of the app.
2. Information we do NOT collect
- We do not record the websites you visit, the apps you use, your DNS queries, or the content of your traffic.
- We do not require or collect your name, email address, phone number, or any account details.
- We do not collect your contacts, photos, files, or precise GPS location.
- We do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs, and we do not sell or share personal data.
3. Information processed to make the app work
| Information | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Your public IP address and approximate location (city, country) | To show "What's My IP" on the home screen and confirm the VPN is working | Looked up from public IP services (ipwho.is, ipapi.co, ipify.org). Shown on your device only; not stored by us. |
| Server list request | To download the list of available VPN servers | Requested from vpngate.net. Cached on your device. |
| Flag images | To display country flags in the server list | Loaded from flagcdn.com. |
| Short reachability checks to VPN servers | To find servers that are responding before connecting | Sent directly from your device to the VPN servers. |
| App settings (selected location, "Show IP" choice, cached server list, disclosure accepted) | To remember your preferences | Stored only on your device. Deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data. |
When the app contacts these services, they can see your device's IP address, as with any internet request. Their handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policies.
4. Third-party VPN servers (VPN Gate)
The free servers in Sord VPN are public relay servers of the VPN Gate academic experiment (vpngate.net), operated by volunteers around the world. Zareef Studio does not own or control these servers.
- VPN Gate states that it keeps VPN connection logs for its relay servers (for example: the time of the connection, your device's source IP address, and the server used) for at least three months, to prevent abuse, and that these logs may be disclosed to authorities in accordance with its Anti-Abuse Policy.
- Individual volunteer server operators may keep additional logs under VPN Gate's rules.
Please read VPN Gate's own policies on its website before using the free servers. Because of this, we recommend not using free VPN servers for banking or other highly sensitive accounts.
5. Notifications
While the VPN is active, Android requires the app to show a persistent notification. On Android 13 and later, the app asks for notification permission for this purpose only. We do not send marketing notifications.
6. Feedback emails
If you contact us using "Feedback" in the app, your email app sends us a message containing whatever you choose to write, along with your email address. We use this only to reply to you and improve the app, and we delete it when it is no longer needed.
7. Data security
Traffic inside the VPN tunnel is encrypted between your device and the VPN server. Traffic leaving the VPN server to the wider internet is not covered by the VPN's encryption, so use HTTPS websites whenever possible. No method of transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your choices and data deletion
- You can disconnect the VPN at any time from the app or the notification.
- You can turn off "Show IP Address" in the app menu.
- All data the app stores is kept on your device. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes it. We do not hold any account data that would need a deletion request.
9. Children's privacy
Sord VPN is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we add our own VPN servers. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
